Art trade for over four decades...
... a short company history
Founded in 1966 by Wilhelm M. Döbritz, the auction house is based in Frankfurt am Main. Driven by the desire to become an art dealer, the history of the house in Frankfurt's Westend began on the basis of many years of experience in the Munich art trade and the Frankfurt auction house Von Artus.
Successful auctions and the continuously growing reputation of the house soon require more space, and so five years later the Frankfurt auction house moves into its new domicile in Braubachstrasse, in Frankfurt's historic city centre.
Generational change and continuation of an old tradition
After 35 years of successful management by Wilhelm M. Döbritz, a generational change took place at the beginning of 2002. Mr Döbritz has placed the fate of the art and auction house in the hands of his daughter Anja.
With a great deal of personal commitment and enthusiasm for art, the new young owner led the establishment into the new millennium according to modern and customer-friendly guidelines without losing the charm of the traditional house. She was her father's right-hand woman for over ten years. Having spent most of her free time in her parents' business from an early age, there was no question for her of working outside the art trade. While studying business administration in her home town, Anja Döbritz gained international experience in the auction business through one-year internships at Christie's in London and Neumeister in Munich. She has been swinging the hammer at the auction desk since 1994.
In 2007, company founder Wilhelm M. Döbritz passed away at the age of 72. Since then, Anja Döbritz-Berti and her team have been honoured and committed to continuing his life's work and preserving his memory.
Three to four major auctions with a select range of items are held at the centre of the auction year. In order to offer the opportunity to shop at Döbritz between the auctions, the open sale is held regularly between the auctions. This allows prospective buyers to choose from a wealth of beautiful things without being tied to an auction date. The view through the high windows of the beautiful sandstone façade of the ground floor, which was spared from the Second World War, invites you on a tour of discovery. And all this in a central walking location in the city centre. The auction house looks forward to your visit at any time.
